The governing board of the AOO

We are a group of volunteer medical or related professionals with a desire to improve the state of obesity in Arizona.

Doug Maready, MD, DiplABIM, DiplABOM

President

Dr. Maready was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. He trained as an Internal Medicine physician, but his focus on health improvement led him to certify also in Obesity Medicine. He trained in Lean Management in an effort to learn how to implement best practices. He has worked in the clinic setting as well as the hospital throughout his career and now oversees a medical practice providing both primary care and obesity treatment. He enjoys all activities outdoors and spending time with his wife and three boys. He is active in the Obesity Medicine Association and in his local medical community, and he is passionate about helping people improve their health.

Chantelle Lessard-Chaudoin DMSC, MPH, PA-C

Vice-President

Chantelle Chaudoin is a board-certified Physician Assistant. She obtained a B.S in Health and Physical Education at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Shortly after, she received a MPH in Community Health Education from California State University of Long Beach, where she focused her graduate research on childhood obesity and global health. Chantelle spent a year working abroad in Cambodia teaching public health to undergraduate students focusing on infectious disease, nutrition, and environmental health. She returned to Pennsylvania to obtain a MMS in Physician Assistant Studies at Arcadia University. During her time at Arcadia, she received global studies scholarships to travel to Nicaragua and South Africa to pursue additional training in infectious disease and global health. She is completed her DMSc at A.T Still University with a research focus on mental health among healthcare personnel. Chantelle has been practicing family medicine in Arizona since 2017 with a focus on preventive medicine and chronic care management. In addition to her role providing clinical care, Chantelle serves as an Assistant Professor at West Coast University’s Physician Assistant program, Lead Public Health faculty at National University and Adjunct Professor at Grand Canyon University. She is passionate about building a strong and healthy community from the ground up. She is the Co-Founder and Clinical Director for Kinesio Concepts which creates and deploys CME such as AHA BLS for local health professionals and students. She enjoys learning about all areas of health and shares her passion while working with her patients and their families. In her free time, Chantelle enjoys spending time with her husband Keith and two yorkies Rose and Chloe.

Jenna Graham, PA-C

Secretary

Jenna is a dedicated Physician Assistant with a passion for combating obesity and promoting healthy lifestyles. Born and raised in Washington State, she developed an early interest in healthcare and nutrition. Jenna pursued her undergraduate education at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA, where she earned her Bachelor's of Science in Nutrition.After completing her undergraduate studies, Jenna worked as a Registered Dietitian in Phoenix, AZ, gaining valuable experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings for two years. Her hands-on experience solidified her commitment to improving public health outcomes, particularly in the realm of obesity prevention and management.Driven by her desire to make a broader impact, Jenna pursued further education and attended PA school at Yale University. She recently joined Banner Health as part of the orthopedic surgery team, where she applies her diverse skill set to provide comprehensive care to patients. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Jenna is actively involved with the Arizona Obesity Organization, advocating for evidence-based approaches to address the obesity epidemic and promote wellness within communities across Arizona. In her free time Jenna enjoys exploring the outdoors and staying active through hiking and playing tennis. Her enthusiasm for wellness and her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others are evident both in and out of the clinic.

Sarah Holz APRN, FNP-C

AOO Treasurer

Sarah is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a passion for obesity medicine. She received her diploma in nursing from Bryan College of Health Sciences in 2002 and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Nebraska Wesleyan in 2009. She received her Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Creighton University in 2012 where she received the Nurse Practitioner Choice of Excellence Award and the Sigma Theta Tau Exemplary Research Award. Sarah has experience in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including family practice, urgent care, general surgery, and obesity medicine. She believes in partnering with her patients to develop an individualized treatment plan. She is passionate about education and promoting sustainable wellness habits to improve the health and wellbeing of her patients. Sarah is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She has obtained the highest level of education in Obesity Medicine for NP’s and holds a Certificate of Obesity Management in Primary Care from The Obesity Society, as well as the Nurse Practitioner Certification of Advanced Education in Obesity Medicine from the Obesity Medicine Association. She is also a member of AANP, and the Obesity Medicine Association, where she serves on the membership committee. Sarah is passionate about raising awareness and promoting education to the public as well as other health care providers, and advocacy to improve access to safe treatment.

Dr Danielle Gilliam, PharmD

Director at Large

Dr. Danielle Gilliam, PharmD, MPH is a Senior Obesity Medical Liaison (ML) with Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) on the West Coast. Dr Gilliam has over a decade of experience in the area of obesity. Dr Gilliam recently completed her Master’s in Public Health - Policy and Administration degree with a concentration in Health Disparities at the University of Illinois-Chicago School of Public Health. She is certified in diabetes education and medical writing and editing.Dr. Gilliam has a strong commitment to her community. Dr Gilliam represents the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as the President of the Community Leadership Board Phoenix Chapter and as a member of Diversity Committee for the National ADA Chapter.
