The mission of AOO is to be the premier group of obesity medicine/treatment specialists in the state of Arizona providing a comprehensive resource for the latest in the disease state and management of obesity.
Our vision is that every patient affected by preobesity and obesity receive evidence-based treatment and coverage for their care.
We are new. But we are determined and energized. As such, we encourage your participation and welcome any suggestions on how this organization can advance and be successful.

Amy Ingersoll, PA-C, MMS, FOMA is a nationally respected obesity medicine PA. She has received the highest level of training in obesity medicine for PAs with receiving the Advanced Education of Obesity Medicine from the Obesity Medical Association (OMA) that demonstrates her extensive knowledge of evidence-based obesity treatment approaches and an ongoing commitment to patient’s health. She has spoken both at a national and local level on obesity medicine. She is a subject matter expert for her national organization, AAPA for their Obesity Leadership Edge. She is founder of the PAs in Obesity Medicine special interest group, and founder and president of the Arizona Obesity Organization.
Dr. de Guzman spent years in practice as an internist treating chronic illnesses. He is affiliated with Banner Good Samaritan Regional Medicine Center and now focuses entirely on obesity medicine. He has served on the clinical advisory board for BCBC of AZ. He currently serves on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for BCBS of AZ. He has served on the Quality Management Committee for Humana. He served the role of Section Chief, Internal Medicine for Banner Good Samaritan. He has been awarded multiple years as "Best Doctors in the Valley" per Phoenix Magazine as well as Best Doctors in America.
Dr. Golden, is a current fellow and past president of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Her practice is NP Obesity Treatment Clinic where she provides obesity treatment as a family nurse practitioner. She received OMAs Certificate of Advanced Education in Obesity Management and the Specialist Certification of Obesity Professional Education, an internationally-recognized certification. She is an author, researcher, and speaker.
Dr. Golden has a great deal of experience as a consultant in the development of patient education materials. She has authored a chapter on obesity management, written several peer reviewed articles, participated in research, and been interviewed by lay media on obesity treatment. She presents nationally and internationally with an emphasis on health policy, leadership and obesity.
Dr. Katherine Duncan is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She completed a coveted one-year fellowship in Clinical Obesity and Metabolism at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and is one of only a handful of physicians in the United States with fellowship training in obesity medicine.
She is an active member of the Obesity Medicine Association. She is also involved in a national project, the Obesity Medicine Education Collaborative, created to develop and improve medical education in obesity. Dr. Duncan approaches obesity as a chronic disease that is most effectively treated through comprehensive care, and she is committed to continuing her education to stay at the forefront of treatments for this challenging disease.
Dr. Danielle Gilliam , PharmD, MPH is a Senior Obesity Medical Liaison (ML) with Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) on the West Coast.
Dr Gilliam has over a decade of experience in the area of obesity. Dr Gilliam recently completed her Master’s in Public Health - Policy and Administration degree with a concentration in Health Disparities at the University of Illinois-Chicago School of Public Health. She is certified in diabetes education and medical writing and editing.
Dr. Gilliam has a strong commitment to her community. Dr Gilliam represents the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as the President of the Community Leadership Board Phoenix Chapter and as a member of Diversity Committee for the National ADA Chapter.
